Body Graphic Design Competition

Rules and Regulations

1. These competition are open to all UNITEN students and staff
2. The body graphic must be suitable with Perodua Viva Elite body
3. Required to design an air brush body that consists :

  • Uniten's Logo
  • Uniten Perodua Eco Challenge's Logo
  • Tagline (given)
4. Designs are refering to fireflies or "Kelip-kelip" theme and suitable with ECO concept.

Evaluation Criteria

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Longest Distance

• Cars will be divided into 2 categories (automatic and manual transmission)
• Cars are to run on the circuit until they stop.
• Cars that archived the longest distance with the least amount of penalties will be declared the winner.




Engineering Presentation

• Each team will be given a booth with display boards for them to put up their modification information.
• Judges will be going around the booth display area. Teams are given only 5 minutes to give a brief explanation about their modification information.
• The booth must be manned at all times during the day to field questions from the media and public.


Design and Decoration

• The design aspect (aerodynamics, visual, etc) will be factor in awarding points to the teams.
• All teams are required to decorate their car and booth according to their own theme – ECO, nature, environment, earth, etc.
• All teams are required to insert their institution logo on both side of the front doors for easy identification by the race marshals during race.


Attendance and Participation

• Points will be awarded to the team with the best participation not just from their team members but also from their own supporters from each institution.

Perodua Eco Challenge Rules & Regulations

BASIC INFORMATION


Car


· The car is non registered vehicle.


Development Fund


· Each university will be given RM10,000 development fund in order to modify the car accordingly.

· Additional funding can be used but the funds must be sourced by the university themselves.


Circuit Information


· Melaka International Motorsports Circuit (MIMC), Ayer Keroh, Melaka.

· Lap distance – 1.6 km

· Maximum lap distance – 3 minutes 30 seconds.

· Penalty will be given to the team which fails to meet the maximum lap time.


Modification Information


· All modifications should hot cause the car to weigh less than 650kg (exclusive of driver) with full fluid condition.

· Modifications to the listed items below are strictly prohibited :

a) Main body structure – A/B/C pillar, floor, side member, cross member, roof frame, front end, and collision related structure.

b) Cutting, hole punching (more than 20mm in diameter)

c) Bending or any type of modification that reduce the structural strength.

d) Instrumental panel.

e) Steering system.

f) Brake system including ABS, if applicable.

g) Transmission – including drive shaft.

h) Catalytic converter.

i) Homologated items such as head lamp, rear combi, side mirror, 3rd brake light, etc.

j) CO intrusion into the cabin will lead to disqualification.


Engine


· Major modification is allowed EXCEPT to the engine block, cylinder head and cylinder head cover.

· Usage of alternative fuel such as hydrogen and NGV is NOT ALLOWED.

· All octane booster of fuel enriching substances are also NOT ALLOWED.

· Adding or removing parts (attached to the engine unit i.e. alternator, pump, air-cond compressor, etc. ) to help to increase fuel efficiency or mileage is ALLOWED.


Petrol and Lubricant


· Each team will be given 1 liter of Petronas Primax95. Other types of fuel are strictly prohibited.

· Replacement of existing lubricants is prohibited. If refilling is necessary, the team is required to use lubricants that then organisers specifies.


Driver


· Minimum weight of 50kg.

· Healthy

· Valid driving license

· Must be staff or student of participating university

· No professional driver is allowed.

· Seat belts and helmet must be worn all the times

· Driver change is allowed only at pit stops.


Race Day Communication


· All cars will be allowed to communicate with their respective team members. Each university can bring their own communication equipment on the race day.

· All cars will also be connected to the race marshal. Perodua will provide necessary equipment on the race day (i.e. GPS).


Race Penalties


· Cars deemed to be slower than the minimum lap time will be penalised according to the distance penalty.

· Collision during the race will result in distance penalty (minor) to disqualification (major) to the party deemed at fault by the race marshals.

· All decisions are final.


Car Delivery to Circuit


· The institutions are to deliver the car to the circuit on 24 June 2010, Thursday by 10 a.m. latest. There is no exception for participating institution from East Malaysia.

· 24 June 2010 is the official test drive day. After this date no test drive on the circuit is permissible.

· A full check on the cars will be done by authorised Perodua personnel starting 8.30 a.m., Friday, 25 June 2010. any modifications deemed illegal will have to be rectified during the afternoon session or the cars will be disqualified. All teams are required to be equipped with the necessary tools. All rectification costs shall be borne by the participating teams.

· The cars will be quarantined form 7 p.m. onwards on 25 June 2010.

· All costs (inclusive of sea/air freight, if relevant) relating to the transportation between race venue and institutions shall be borne by the institutions. The race vehicles shall not be driven to and from the race venue. Incompliant to this ruling will result in disqualification in all categories and participating team will be asked to return the Development Fund within 30 days from the race day.

· The organiser shall not be held liable for any damages or losses.

· The deadlines are non-negotiable.
